Bandmaster Glenn Barlow – Sparxmusic

Bandmaster Glenn Barlow

Born into the Boscombe Corps, UK Territory, Glenn was involved at an early age in the corps sections as a promising young cornet player.

Glenn moved onward and upward, going on to study trumpet at the world renowned Royal Academy of Music in London, gaining his Bachelor of Music (Honours) and the LRAM, FTCL, LGSM and ALCM diplomas. During his tenure at the Academy, he was a member of the Enfield Citadel Band as its Soprano cornet player for 5 years under the direction of Bandmaster James Williams MBE.

His conducting has not been limited to the brass band, having conducted the Colorado Symphony and the Vancouver Symphony. In June of 1994, Glenn celebrated his 18th birthday by staging and conducting a performance of the rarely heard Mahler Symphony No.8 (Symphony of a Thousand) at London’s Royal Festival Hall.

Glenn Barlow was appointed Bandmaster in April 2004, following six years of service as a member and 2 years as deputy bandmaster at the North York Temple Corps.
